Velociraptor Claw Icicles

Velociraptor Claw Icicles

Shown in the Lansing Historical Society's 2016 Exhibit, "Sepia to Selfies -- 150 Years of Lansing Photography," state Library of Michigan, winter 2016.

These icicles formed in the great ice storm of 2012. The icicles first formed pointing down, but as the branch grew heavier and pointed increasing earthward, the icicles appeared to be growing horizontally, taking on the appearance of Velociraptor claws.

Shot at about 11pm in 10 degrees using flash.
